The Hobby Plus CR18P PRO puts serious trail hardware into a compact 1/18-scale 4WD RTR platform. It comes in two purpose-built configurations: the brushed CR18P EVO-PRO and the brushless CR18P PRO Juice Up, each with its own transmission, battery setup, weight balance, and tuning package.

EVO-PRO combines a competition-style LCG chassis with big-bore oil shocks, servo-on-axle steering, 68mm competition tires, and a two-speed brushed drivetrain. Juice Up takes a different route with a single-speed gearbox, Hobbywing 2S–3S brushless electronics, an included 3S battery, and brass plus underdrive components for chassis tuning.

How the CR18P PRO Platform Evolved

HobbyPlus has developed its micro crawler range through the CR-18, CR-18P, and CR18P EVO generations since 2018. Input from dealers and drivers helped move these trucks beyond casual tabletop use toward better articulation, traction, and durability on real outdoor obstacles.

That progression is clear in the CR18P PRO family. EVO-PRO introduced the low-CG, competition-focused formula with revised shock geometry, a larger 280-size motor, a wider track, and servo-on-axle steering; Juice Up turns that foundation into a single-speed brushless option with stronger stock performance and more adjustment parts included.

Two-Speed Brushed Control or Single-Speed Brushless Punch

EVO-PRO matches its 280-size brushed motor to a two-speed transmission. Select low range when careful wheel speed matters, then switch ratios for quicker movement between trail features.

Juice Up drives its single-speed gearbox with a Hobbywing 1621SL outrunner and Mini24 brushless ESC. The system supports 2S or 3S batteries, and the included 3S 360mAh pack is the factory-specified stock setup.

Low-CG Geometry and Forward Weight Bias

EVO-PRO positions its electronics around an angled aluminum LCG chassis with a stated 50:50 balance. The raised rear section improves breakover clearance while allowing the motor to sit lower in the frame.

Juice Up shifts the balance forward to a specified 56% front and 44% rear. This loads the steering tires on climbs, while the supplied brass components give drivers room to refine low-mounted weight after testing the stock truck.

Gearbox Options and Rear Underdrive

EVO-PRO features a two-speed transmission and full metal gearing in both the gearbox and axles. That arrangement suits drivers who want dedicated low-speed control plus a faster ratio without changing the electronics package.

Juice Up keeps the standard drivetrain single-speed and includes a 27% rear underdrive pinion-and-ring set as an optional setup change. With underdrive installed, the rear axle turns more slowly than the front to help the front tires lead on climbs and carve a tighter line.

Articulation, Steering, and Tire Grip

EVO-PRO combines aluminum-capped big-bore oil shocks, servo-on-axle steering, and 68mm by 23.5mm super-soft competition tires. Internal beadlock wheels make tire removal and foam tuning possible without gluing the rubber permanently to the rim.

Juice Up also uses servo-on-axle steering and aluminum-capped, oil-filled coil-spring shocks. Its 68mm super-soft competition tires mount to Deep Star plastic internal beadlocks with integrated brass rings.

Driveline Hardware Built for Trail Use

EVO-PRO pairs heavy-duty plastic driveshafts with full metal gears in the transmission and axles to handle the larger brushed motor. Its track is also 10mm wider than the previous CR18P EVO platform.

Juice Up steps up to revised heavy-duty plastic driveshafts and portal axle outdrives secured by 1.5mm pins. The result supports the brushless power system while retaining replaceable plastic shaft components.

First-Run Setup Tips

With EVO-PRO, charge the supplied 2S pack using its USB charger, add batteries to the transmitter, and confirm that the two-speed shift system operates freely. Change ratios only when the drivetrain is not under heavy load.

For Juice Up, start with the included 3S battery and matching USB charger, then drive the crawler in its factory configuration before installing brass or rear underdrive. Make one adjustment at a time so you can judge its effect on steering, climbing, suspension action, and motor heat.

Before running either truck, inspect wheel fasteners, driveshaft movement, steering endpoints, and full suspension travel. Use proper LiPo charging and storage practices, and keep components dry unless their individual manufacturer ratings explicitly permit wet use.
