Well, it’s a neat idea but unfortunately the long bendable pieces that make up the “ramp” of the wave broke on both sides during assembly. I’m not sure if this is common with this product but I simply can’t recommend it because of my experience. I haven’t reached out to get it replaced, maybe I should. But yeah, I never got to enjoy it.
🌊 Two Years With HangarRC The Wave — My Real‑World Review
After two full years of running The Wave, I can say without hesitation that it’s one of the most consistently fun and visually striking obstacles in my lineup. It’s got that perfect mix of challenge, flow, and craftsmanship that keeps it in rotation every single session.
🏗️ Quality That Stands Out
The Wave is built with the kind of precision and attention to detail that HangarRC is known for. The curves are clean, the transitions feel intentional, and the whole piece has that “premium obstacle” presence. Even after hundreds of runs, it still feels like a high‑end product every time a rig climbs onto it.
⏳ Longevity That Proves Its Worth
Two years of constant use — and I mean constant — and The Wave hasn’t lost its shape, structure, or performance. No warping, no soft spots, no weird flex developing over time. It still behaves exactly the way it did on day one, which says a lot considering how aggressive some of my rigs are.
💪 Sturdiness You Can Count On
This obstacle is solid. The Wave doesn’t twist, shift, or feel fragile under load. Even when I’m running heavy rigs or hitting it at odd angles, it stays planted and predictable. It’s one of those pieces you never have to baby or worry about — it just takes the abuse and keeps going.
🎨 Finish That Still Looks Great
The finish has held up impressively well. The colors, the texture, the overall presentation — it still looks clean and professional even after two years of dirt, dust, and tire scrubbing. It’s one of those obstacles that still looks good enough to display, not just use.
⚠️ The Only Real Issue: Decal Edge Wear
If there’s one thing worth mentioning, it’s the decals. With aggressive tires and constant use, the edges do start to fray a bit over time. It’s purely cosmetic and doesn’t affect performance, but it’s the one area where you can see the miles. Given how often The Wave gets used, it’s honestly not surprising.
⭐ Final Verdict
Two years in, HangarRC’s The Wave is still one of my go‑to obstacles. The quality, longevity, sturdiness, and finish are all top‑tier, and it continues to deliver a smooth, technical, and satisfying challenge every time I run it. Aside from some decal edge wear from heavy use, it’s been rock‑solid and absolutely worth having in the collection.
This is the Frame Benders bigger eviler brother. This is really for more advanced rigs, but a good driver can you a stock vehicle.
The good: This thing id fun. I use this on all my vehicles to see where they need upgrades. Brass here, some longer shocks there and its even more fun. This is by far one of the best Benchmark tools you can get. I consider this a must have for anyone doing MODS on their Mini and Micro crawlers. Best thing is you can change it up and flip the obstacles around to change the way the flex is being tortured. The center hill on this will test any vehicle.
The Bad: I struggled with some of my Mini Stock vehicles. It made me spend more money to mod them to make it easier. Not the obstacles’ fault, but I needed to put something here.
Longevity: This to has stayed the course without any wear and tear. Everything works as it did when I built it even though I have taken it apart a bunch of times to change the lines.
